Gouldsboro residents will decide whether they want to establish a Coastal Planning and Protection Reserve Fund at the town meeting on the evening of June 11. This post explains how the town would utilize the funds placed in the reserve fund. It also explains why having such a fund is necessary.
Harbor Resilience Meeting: Outcomes
On May 17, 26 participants, mainly fishermen, convened to discuss harbor infrastructure improvements for Gouldsboro over the next decade. Key issues included dredging needs, public launch ramps, and a needed pier in South Gouldsboro. After assessing costs and feasibility, we will reconvene this fall to recommend investment priorities for the town's harbor facilities.

The meeting will focus on the town's harbor infrastructure in Prospect Harbor, Bunkers Harbor, and South Gouldsboro. Corea Project Update
Coastal resilience work around Corea Harbor is moving from planning to action. Building on the two meetings with Corea residents last summer and fall, the Town of Gouldsboro has charted a course that leads to construction to address flooding at the Crowley Island Causeway and Corea-Cranberry Road Junction.

Resilience at Bottom Line Fisheries
Bottom Line Fisheries in Corea Harbor was awarded $25,000 in matching funds from Maine's Working Waterfront program to help repair damages from the January 10 storm.
Corea Harbor Resilience Kick-Off
Gouldsboro will kick off its Corea Harbor Resilience project at the Black Duck Inn in Corea on Sunday, August 25th, at 4 PM. The project wll identify the best ways to modify the Crowley Island Causeway and the Corea-Cranberry Point road junction so that they can withstand large storms and sea level rise.
Looking Ahead for Three Key Harbors
A new project funded with $50,000 from the Coastal Community Grant/Shore and Harbor Planning Grant program will focus on increasing coastal resilience in Bunkers Harbor, Prospect Harbor, and South Gouldsboro harbor. It will evaluate working waterfront infrastructure and recommend improvements.
