On Friday, May 6, the Gouldsboro Shore Project will join the Winter Harbor Music Festival as the Festival presents soprano Celine Mogielnicki and pianist Deiran Manning in “Sirens and Sailors-Songs of Love and the Sea”, a recital ranging from songs of Mozart, Strauss and Rachmaninov to traditional folk, sea shanties, and siren songs.
Inspired by the love of coastal life and Downeast Maine, this recital explores the many reasons why composers and singers from all over the world have been captivated by the people, stories, and mysteries of the Sea. The Gouldsboro Shore Project will join the musicians to raise awareness of research in Gouldsboro’s Shellfish Resilience Lab and work to protect the health of the Schoodic Peninsula’s shoreline and shellfish populations.
The concert will begin at 7 pm in Hammond Hall in Winter Harbor. Reservations are available on the WHMF website. For more information about the concert and about Celine Mogielnicki and Deiran Manning see the article in the Ellsworth American.
